In 1971, Bill Blevins was working for the Blevins Popcorn Company but had a strong interest in going into business for himself. Through a business contact, he learned of a company called Mobile Home Parts Distributors which was for sale. After studying the company, he found it to be just the business opportunity he was looking for. He was able to work out an agreement to purchase the business from the deceased founder's wife. Having been started in 1957, the company had just seven employees and a single location in Nashville, TN.
At the time, the company was a supplier to both the RV and manufactured home industry. Those markets were booming in the early 70's and the company expanded to Alabama, Kentucky and Louisiana. The company name was subsequently changed to Blevins, Inc. and acquisitions were made which allowed the company to add branches in North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania. In 1985, the company moved into a new corporate headquarters in Nashville while also expanding the Nashville branch. At the same time, the company made the strategic decision to exit the RV business and focus exclusively on the manufactured housing industry. Today, Blevins, Inc. has grown to service over 35 states and become the premier national supplier to the aftermarket side of the manufactured housing industry. In addition, Blevins, Inc. now serves many other buildings supply markets including the modular housing industry, mobile office, shed and storage and the crawlspace segments. A sister company, Home Pride Inc., was founded to manufacture anchoring products. It now is also involved in other steel fabrication activities as well as the manufacturing of fiberglass steps.
In 2001, the company transitioned to its second generation of leadership with Brad Blevins assuming the role of President of the company. Blevins, Inc. has used its commitment to excellent customer service and building relationships to continue to expand its market coverage. Additional acquisitions were made with the company buying Florida Mobile Home Supply and later Lane McDuff Sales in Texas. In 2019, the company acquired Tri-State Distributors with its nine locations and strong business in the gas, heating and hearth markets and the manufactured housing industry. 2019 also saw Brad Blevins move to CEO over the Blevins group of companies with Jeff Daniel joining Blevins, Inc. as President that same year.
2020 marked the year we opened our 14th branch in Detroit to better service the Michigan markets. Also, we acquired Apple outdoor Supply, one of the nation's largest suppliers of products for shed/storage structures, outdoor furniture, and playground equipment with two locations in Camp Hill, PA and Hickory NC. 2021 brought us a new distribution center in Arizona to best serve all our southwest and western accounts. In July 2023, Blevins continues our expansion and opens our new branch in Albuquerque, NM. This strategically placed branch will serve the New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado markets.
